Evi started a little over a week ago as a way to make Discord feel fast again. Since then it grew a store, safe mode, an installer, plugins that keep their word and fixes that reach you in minutes. Today it gets a number we’ve been saving: 1.0. It means we think Evi is ready for everyday use, and we’ll treat it that way from here on.
- Evi’s first stable release
- 1.0
- before an install’s id is thrown away
- 2 days
- messages, accounts or computer details in usage numbers

A store with a front page
Open the store and it now starts somewhere: Staff picks at the top, then Trending, New this week and a few collections we put together around an idea, like making Discord quieter. Trending is what gained the most stars and the most people this week, weighed by size, so a small plugin that doubled can beat a big one. Search or pick a filter and you’re back in the full list.
Ratings and reviews
You can now rate a plugin from one to five stars and say a few words about it. To keep it honest, only people whose Evi is linked to their Discord account can review, only once per plugin, and only plugins they actually have installed. Anyone can report a review. Enough reports hide it until Evi’s team has had a look.
Plugin pages that tell you more
A plugin’s page can now show a short preview of it in action, the plugins people who use it also install, and Known issues: if it’s broken on your Discord, if its author posted a status, or if a fix from Evi is on its way, it says so before you install. Authors can also leave a note on each version, like what changed or what to watch for, and it shows up right there.
Hearts and an inbox
See something you might want later? Heart it. Your wishlist tells you when one of those plugins gets an update or a beta, or starts working again on your Discord. That all lands in the store’s new inbox, the bell at the top of the Plugins page, along with reviews of your own plugins, how your uploads went and news from authors you follow. The same inbox is on your dashboard at evi.rest.
Author pages, and following
Authors can give their page a banner, pin up to three plugins to the top, and see how many installs run their plugins. And you can follow them, from Evi or from their page on the site. When someone you follow publishes a new plugin or version, you’ll hear about it in your inbox.
Plugin betas
Authors can now publish a beta version of a plugin next to the stable one. Nobody gets it by accident: turn on Get beta versions on a plugin’s page and you get that plugin’s betas, everyone else keeps the stable one. Betas are reviewed like every other version, and marked Beta wherever they show up. When the stable version catches up, the beta goes away on its own.
Numbers for authors, and nothing about you
Authors kept asking the same question: is anyone using this? Now they can see it. Once a day, Evi tells evi.rest which store plugins it has and which ones are turned on. Here is everything it sends:
- The ids and versions of the store plugins you have, and whether each is on
- Your Evi version
That’s it. No account, no messages, nothing about your computer, and nothing about plugins that aren’t in the store. It goes with the same random install id stars use, and after two days the day’s list is turned into plain counts and the id is gone. Authors see totals per day and per version, never a single install, and small numbers are never shown.
With these numbers, an author’s dashboard now shows installs over the last 30 days and each version’s crash rate, so a bad release is obvious within a day instead of a week.
Dynamic Wallpaper
A new tab under Themes puts a picture or a video behind Discord. Pick a file, choose how much to dim and blur it so text stays readable, and Discord’s backgrounds turn see-through over it. A video pauses on its own when your laptop is running on battery, and safe mode leaves it off.
Crash Detective
Safe mode already caught crash loops. Now, when Discord crashes or freezes, Evi also tells you what was going on right before it: which plugin was running, and which was busiest.
It may not be the cause, but it’s the best lead.
From the notice you can turn that plugin off or keep it on. No guessing, no digging through folders.
Updates you don’t notice
Turn on Install updates in the background in the Updates tab, and new versions of Evi download and get checked on their own, then install when you close Discord. Next time you open it, you’re up to date.
Keyboard shortcuts, and settings search
Plugins can now have keyboard shortcuts. Set one by pressing the keys, like Discord’s own keybinds, and the field tells you when two plugins want the same ones. Streamer Mode+ and Game Activity Toggle already have one. And the search at the top of the Plugins tab now looks through every plugin’s settings too: type what a setting is called, and opening the result takes you straight to it.
For people who build plugins
Advanced has a new DevTools tab: a live log of what Discord dispatches, its stores and what they hold right now, how often each patch runs, and plugin timings. Hover a name from Evi’s plugin API in the Patch Helper or DevTools and you get its signature, docs and an example, and a searchable API reference sits right next to it.
What changed in the plugin API is now written down, version by version, in the plugin API changelog. When a release changes something your plugin uses, you’ll get a note in your inbox saying which.
And starting a plugin takes a minute now:
Terminal
bun run new-plugin my-plugin # a plugin that works as it is: a setting, a shortcut, a slash command and a test
bun run preview-plugin my-plugin # its store page, and what the store's checks would say, before you uploadThank you, supporters
Supporters can now pick their own colour for their supporter badge, from their dashboard. There’s a new credits page for supporters who’d like to be named, and a theme only supporters can install. Evi stays free and open source because of them.
Two new plugins, and one goodbye
Who Reacted. Small avatars of who reacted, right on each reaction next to its count, and how many more when there are lots.
Typing Tweaks. See who’s typing at a glance: avatars and role colours in the “is typing” line, and three little dots on channels and DMs in your lists while someone types there.
Quick Actions is retired. It’s no longer part of Evi, and is removed when Evi updates.

Already on Evi? It’ll offer the update on its own, or go to Evi’s settings → Updates. New here? Download Evi Setup. And thank you, to everyone who installed an early version, reported a bug or wrote a plugin. 1.0 is yours as much as ours.
