Installing Evi used to mean opening a terminal and typing a command. Most people shouldn’t have to. Evi 0.5 comes with Evi Setup: one small window with two buttons, and a handful of other things we’ve wanted for a while.

Evi Setup
Download it, open it, and it lists the Discord apps on your computer (Stable, PTB, Canary) with whether Evi is in each. Tick the ones you want and click Install Evi. Discord restarts with Evi in it. Uninstall Evi puts Discord back exactly as it was.
It’s small because it doesn’t carry Evi inside it. It downloads the current release when you install, checks it against the fingerprint published next to it, and only then writes anything. If a newer Evi is out, it says so at the top and installs that one instead.
Prefer the terminal? evi install still works, and on macOS and Linux it’s still the way in for now.
Starts empty
Until now, installing Evi also installed every official plugin, all 33 of them, switched off. That was clutter you didn’t ask for. A fresh install now comes with none: you pick what you want from the store. If you already have some, they keep getting updated, and nothing new appears on its own.
In your language
Evi’s settings, store and notices now follow the language you use Discord in: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Turkish, Russian, Polish and Japanese. Change Discord’s language and Evi switches with it, no restart. Plugin authors can translate their plugins the same way, with one helper.
See what a plugin did
The store already told you what a plugin may access. Now every plugin’s details also show what it did: which sites it contacted, how often and when. If it contacts a site that appears nowhere in its code, that row is flagged.
Evi never keeps the contents of a request, its query string or anything that looks like a key. Only where it went, and when.
The list lives in memory and starts fresh each time Discord does.
Beta versions
Turn on Get beta versions in Updates and you’ll get new Evi versions a few days before everyone else. They may have bugs, that’s the point: you help find them. Turn it off again and you simply wait for the next regular release, no downgrade.
Faster
Turning a plugin on or off used to freeze Discord for a moment. Some plugins change Discord’s own code while it runs, and Evi then redrew all of Discord at once. It now does that in small slices in between everything else, and a few other hot paths got a lot cheaper, so switching to your DMs no longer drags either. If you want the numbers, there’s a new Performance tab under Advanced.
Also fixed: clicking a plugin’s switch scrolled Discord’s settings away from it, and dropdowns in a plugin’s settings often closed as soon as they opened.
A tidier settings screen
Evi’s settings are now four pages instead of nine: Plugins, Themes, General and Advanced, each with tabs. Installed plugins are cards, a page at a time, and the store pages too.
Badges
Supporter badges now level up every month, from Bronze on day one to Prismatic after a year. And anyone whose plugin makes it into the store gets the new Plugin Author badge on their profile, automatically.
